Welcome to the Glasgow University Tennis Club.
GUTC is one of the fastest growing sports clubs at Glasgow University with over 135 members!!
We have members of all abilities, whether you are interesting in playing for the team or whether you have never played before and are looking for something new to enjoy and get into at your time at Glasgow University. You would be very hard pushed to find a more fun and welcoming bunch of people in one place!
Whether you are here for hardcore tennis or a knockabout and plenty socials then there is something at this club for you! Competitions, Trips abroad, visiting other tennis clubs in Scotland, Socials, General banter... We have it all!! So grap a racket and come on down! Grab a friend, flatmate, course mate... They will have a great time too!!
TENNIS
Our home is Dowanhill Lawn Tennis Club, a mere 2 minutes walk from Byres Road, perfect if you’ve got an hour or two in between lectures. (See below for directions)
The courts are available between 12pm and 5pm everyone Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time, with coaching on Wednesday’s between 2pm and 4pm. On Sunday’s we head a little further afield to the amazing indoor courts at David Lloyd Anniesland, meeting outside Hillhead Subway Station at 6.30pm, coaching lasts from 7-9pm.
BEER GUT
You’ll barely have time to recover from the last social before GUT has the next amazing night out lined up. Great fun and always messy, highlights of the year include the infamous Subby, Retro Tennis night, Cheese & Wine night, the Club Dinner and many more!

DIRECTIONS TO DOWANHILL LAWN TENNIS CLUB
From University Main Gate
Walk down University Avenue, past the Medical School towards Byres Road. At the junction of Byres Road, turn right onto Byres Road. Then take the next left onto Dowanside Road. The tennis club is about 200 yards down this road on the left hand side.
From The Botanical Gardens
Cross over Great Western Road onto Byres Road. Follow along Byres Road towards the University untill you get to Hillhead underground/Curlers. Take the next right after Hillhead underground/Curlers onto Dowanside Road. The tennis club is about 200 yards down this road on the left hand side.
